WATCH: Miranda Lambert Performs 'Strange' On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

Miranda Lambert took a break from her Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency to head to Los Angeles for a performance of her latest single, “Strange,” on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Donning bedazzled cowboy boots, sparkly tights, and a belted blue leather mini dress, the Texas native showcased the timely tune during the Mercedes- EQ Concert Series stage.

The song was co-written by Lambert, Luke Dick, and Natalie Hemby on Lambert’s Tennessee farm in 2020 during the midst of the pandemic shutdown when life felt, you guessed it – strange.

“Have a smoke, buy a round/ Get on a jetliner goin’ anywhere-bound/ Pick a string, sing the blues/ Dance a hole in your shoes/ Do anything to keep you sane/ ‘Cause times like these make me feel strange/ Times like these make me feel strange,” Lambert sings.

“The chorus, we wanted it to lift and sort of be an anthem, and not creepy in any way,” Lambert explained to Billboard. “Just like, ‘Have fun, get a drink, get out of here, go on vacation’ — whatever you got to do to stay sane through all this weirdness. I wanted it to be an anthem uniting people. The pandemic definitely was the strangest thing we’ve all been through, but that’s just a piece of it.”

“Strange” follows her single “If I Was A Cowboy,” both of which appear on her ninth studio album, Palomino.

The project features 15 tracks, including a cover of Mick Jagger’s “Wandering Spirit,” the title track from Jagger’s 1993 solo album of the same name, as well as three songs from Lambert, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram’s collaborative project, The Marfa Tapes.

Palomino also includes one collaboration, “Music City Queen,” which features new wave group, The B-52s. According to a press release, the record “explores the world and the people in it, seeking beauty and adventure all around.” Palomino follows Lambert’s GRAMMY-winning album, Wildcard, and her two collaborative projects, The Marfa Tapes and Pistol Annies’ Christmas album, Hell Of A Holiday.

Lambert is currently in Sin City for her Las Vegas residency, dubbed Velvet Rodeo, which kicked off on September 23 at Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

The 7,000-capacity venue allows Lambert to truly connect with her fans throughout the show as she brought the intimate feel of a Broadway honky-tonk to Sin City.
