“This weekend is his weekend off and here he is playing Bridgestone,” Urban shared of Combs.
Keith Urban’s The Speed Of Now World Tour rolled through Nashville, Tennessee on Friday evening (Oct. 7) and the country superstar had quite a few surprises for the Bridgestone Arena crowd up his sleeve, including special guest Luke Combs.
Combs first took the stage for a performance of his 2017 chart-topper, “When It Rains It Pours.”
With their guitars in tow, the superstars had fans singing along as they performed the celebratory track together.
“I wanna say two things about Luke,” Urban later shared from the stage. “First of all, I think we’ve got a lot in common. Both of our wives are named Nicole.”
Combs replied, “Very true, Very true.”
“Is it true that she’s named after her?,” Urban asked.
After Combs confirmed that Nicole Combs was in fact named after Nicole Kidman, Urban laughed, “So his wife Nicole is named after my wife Nicole.”
While Nicole Combs wasn’t able to attend the show as she was at home with the couple’s 4-month-old, Tex Lawrence, Nicole Kidman was on hand to support Urban.
“The second thing, this guy is touring everywhere right now. This weekend is his weekend off and here he is playing Bridgestone,” Urban pointed out as they shared a hug.
Next, they joined together to perform Urban and Eric Church’s 2015 duet, “Raise ‘Em Up.”
Urban and Combs traded verses throughout the song.
At one point, Urban changed the lyrics to reflect Combs’ life, singing, “ So, you meet someone/ The only one/ You take her by the hand/ Make a stand/ Make some love/ Buy some land/ And then the four-month-old babies come.”
With a huge smile on his face, Combs raised his hands into the air as the audience applauded.
Keith Urban and Luke Combs then shared a hug before Combs exited the stage.
Urban’s Nashville concert also featured an on-stage appearance by Nicole Kidman, a touching tribute to the late Loretta Lynn, and performances of his biggest hits, including “Kiss A Girl,” “We Were Us,” “Long Hot Summer,” and “Days Go By.”
Urban also performed his new single, “Brown Eyes Baby,” which was released over the summer.
Tyler Hubbard and Ingrid Andress opened the show.
Urban announced The Speed Of Now World Tour earlier this year. At the time, he said he was excited to play some of his new material in a live setting.
“After two years we’re finally gonna get the chance to play some of the new songs we haven’t done live before. We’ll throw in a bunch of the songs that everyone comes to hear, a couple of which we’ll rework a bit, and it’s really gonna be tough to get us off the stage,” he said.
He later revealed that Tyler Hubbard would be joining the fall dates.
“I’m psyched that my brutha Tyler Hubbard is gonna come out and join Ingrid (Andress) and me on the fall leg of my “SPEED OF NOW WORLD TOUR,” Keith Urban shared in July. “…it’s like some Ocean’s 11 sh#t and it’s gonna be a BLAST!!!!!”
The tour will make stops in various cities, including Atlanta, GA, Savannah, GA, and Knoxville, TN before the U.S. leg of the tour comes to a close on November 5, in St. Paul, MN. Tickets for the remaining dates of The Speed Of Now World Tour are available to purchase HERE.
