Mike Tyson is a legend, and yesterday was a great day for fans of Iron Mike and boxing. In a recent interview, Tyson let the world in on a little secret, who he was open to fighting if given the opportunity.

Tyson stepped into the ring on March 9, 2005. He was young, eager, and talented, and had his sights on showing the world the champion he was. With two decades in the business, he proved his mettle time and time again. According to BoxRec, in 58 bouts, he had a 75.86% knock out rate. Tyson was a beast with it, respectfully earning him the moniker “Iron Mike.”  And it didn’t take long for the world to recognize Tyson’s gift.   As noted by Evolve Daily, His world title was already secured by the age of 20, making him the youngest to hold it.

Tyson Restores Hope

For die-hards, Tyson leaving the business was a huge loss. Particularly for the greats, there is always the question of if they will return. Because honestly, many will give anything to see a G.O.A.T. do their thing one more time.  In Tyson’s case, the prevailing inquiry was, when will he step back into the ring? He did, however, give the fans what they wanted and returned for a major match-up against Roy Jones Jr., And fans were in heaven. They ate it up. That bout went down as one of Pay-per-view’s most successful events.

Does Lightening Strike Twice

Sometimes when a legend steps out of the shadow to once more display what made them great, it doesn’t happen again. It’s like a lightning strike that hits one location once. It is rare to see them step out of the shadows a second or third time. But it seems Tyson might consider another return to the ring. But the all-consuming question is, with whom will Tyson square off if he does?

Tyson Reveals His Pick

There is undoubtedly a plethora of possibilities people would want to see Tyson go toe to toe with. Indeed, this made Tyson’s expression on the matter even more tantalizing. His response was a little more tepid than most expected. According to Tyson’s interview with TMZ, there is nobody specific he’s got in mind. He only needs the money to be right. In the champs’ words,

“When I see the money people for the end of the product, my mind works clearer.”

Who can blame Tyson for wanting to secure the bag?

What it Really Means

This is both good news and, for some, not news enough. It is exciting to know that Tyson is willing to get back in there. But on the flip side, people may or may not see him in action, as money is the supreme motivator here. So, let’s keep those fingers crossed.
