Try Not to Cut Yourself on the Insanely Expensive Metallica Ninja Star Turntable

Are you a vinyl enthusiast that’s sick and tired of their turntable not looking deadly enough? Maybe you want multiple pointy corners of brushed metal to stick out past the record you’re listening to. Are you such a massive Metallica fanboy that no cost is too much for anything they put out? Then maybe this…thing is for you.

Earlier today, Metallica announced that they had teamed up with Pro-Ject Audio Systems to release a Ninja Star turntable. For those that don’t know, the Metallica ninja star became a thing© in the 90s and is comprised of four pointy Metallica “Ms” placed around a point to look like a ninja star.

Each of these turntables are manufactured in Europe and feature the pointy Metallica logo in mirror finished metal. Like most turntables, this bad boy will spin at 33, 45, and 78 rpm and uses a heavy glass platter so you can see the machine below when not in use.

In a press release, Metallica said they were stoked about the new turntable, which is being billed as a limited edition product with the limited edition price of $1,599.

“We’ve teamed up with Pro-Ject Audio to bring you a top-of-the-line, sleek turntable! Featuring the Metallica Ninja Star design by James Hetfield.

“This turntable should not be missed by any vinyl collector looking to add a bit of flare to their audio system! Available at Metallica.com and through Pro-Ject dealers.”

As for the work and design that went into the turntable, Pro-Ject said this was just one in a long line of artist collaborations, but that this one offered something that’s uniquely Metallica.

“The Metallica team chose Pro-Ject as their collaborative partner to create a Metallica-themed record player, continuing the brand’s proud tradition of collaborating with artists.

“Pro-Ject’s design team treated the surface of the new turntable with a mirror-finished metal logo contour to give the player its distinctive look, a bold aesthetic that resonates with the iconic rock band.

“The S-shaped tonearm comes with a pre-installed Pick it S2 C integrated cartridge and headshell, but allows for easy cartridge swapping via the detachable assembly. Tracking force, anti-skating and VTA are fully adjustable for fine-tuning and position the Metallica limited edition turntable as a true audiophile investment.”

The Metallica Ninja Star Turntable will be available sometime this summer, so be sure to keep an eye on Metallica’s main page or Pro-Ject’s site for more details.
