Tory Lanez Guilty In Megan Thee Stallion Case

Today Tory Lanez was found guilty of the 2020 shooting of Megan Tha Stallion (Pete) on all counts by a jury of his peers. Finally, after two years on the defensive, thanks to the justice system at work, today is a day of celebration for Pete, a day she can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Megan Pete’s Long Road To Justice

It’s been a rough and rocky two years for Megan Thee Stallion. After a very public ordeal in 2020, the artist has found herself under public judgment and scrutiny. Nevertheless, she held the line waiting for her day in court. And on December 13th Megan got to speak on her grueling journey. According to Time magazine, the performer reportedly told the court,

“This situation has only been worse for me, and it has only made him more famous.”

The Court Of Public Opinion Has No Chill

Although Meg has not been without support, she has also been the subject of widespread ridicule and scorn. Throughout this ordeal, she has been the subject of vitriol from both public and non-public figures. In fact, after going public on her sentiments on public scrutiny, the post from one tweeter read.

And there is much more on social media to bear record to others who had similar or worse to add.

But today, the artist got vindication as the accused assailant now faces sentencing.

Origins Of The Megan’s Incident

The case dates back to a summer night in LA. It was a seemingly ordinary night that turned into a nightmare for Pete. The artist went live on social media a month later, making her accusations public.

Her public statement was an attempt to dissuade the defamation of her character. However, despite the evidence in her possession in the court of public opinion, she found herself on the defensive. Over time it became an ugly back-and-forth between Lanez, Pete, and all who took sides.

The Hot Seat

Despite facing several charges, which included assault with a semi-automatic firearm, Tory Lanez pled not guilty. Reportedly Lanez did not take the stand in his defense. According to CNN, it also took the jury only a day to reach a verdict,

“A jury of five men and seven women started deliberations on Thursday and reached a verdict Friday afternoon.”

Sources report that after the verdict, Lanez went out in handcuffs. Tory faces 22 years in prison and possible deportation back to Canada.

The Inspiration

The DA was truly sympathetic over Megan’s undue suffering over the last two years and expressed so. George Gascon is cited as saying.

“You [Megan] faced unjust and despicable scrutiny that no woman should ever face, and you have been an inspiration to others across LA County and the nation.”

One thing that can be gleaned from this situation is that no evil deed ever goes unpunished justice always prevails.
