The Chicks Share Tour Update: 'We Are So Sorry'

The Chicks shared a tour update on Friday afternoon, revealing that they made the “difficult decision” to reschedule their upcoming shows in Knoxville, Tennessee and Greensboro, North Carolina due to illness.

“We are so sorry for the inconvenience, but our priority is to put on a show you all deserve,” the group collectively shared in a statement.

The news comes just one day after The Chicks were forced to abruptly postpone their Nashville concert, which was scheduled for Thursday, July 27. Thursday’s show was set to feature The Chicks alongside Wild Rivers and was slated to mark The Chicks’ first show in Nashville since 2016.

The three shows have now been rescheduled and the new dates are as follows”

August 8 – Greensboro, North Carolina: Greensboro Coliseum Complex

September 21 – Knoxville, Tennessee: Thompson-Boling Arena

September 23 – Nashville, Tennessee: Bridgestone Arena

Wild Rivers will support The Chicks on the newly scheduled dates.

All original tickets will be honored at the rescheduled concerts.

The shows are part of The Chicks World Tour 2023, which kicked off on June 20 in Oslo, Norway includes U.S. dates as well as concerts in the United Kingdom, Canada, and more. In addition to Wild Rivers, the tour features Maren Morris and Ben Harper on select dates.

The tour follows The Chicks’ 2022 run in support of their fifth studio album, Gaslighter. This string of shows took the trio, made up of Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer, around the United States.

“North America! Thank you to all our fans for making last Summer so fun! We look forward to returning to the road and bringing the show to fans in new cities across the U.S. and Canada! See you soon,” The Chicks shared in a press release announcing their 2023 tour. “We can’t wait to see everyone and play for all our fans across the pond — it’s been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to get back!”

Earlier this year, the 13-time GRAMMY-winning group played a limited engagement in Las Vegas.

Throughout the month of May, The Chicks took the stage at the Bakkt Theater (formerly Zappos Theater) at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino for six nights. This was the trio’s first-ever Las Vegas engagement.

“Finally getting to play live in 2022 left us hungry to continue our tour. After so many years without new music, last year felt like a long time coming,” The Chicks shared in a statement. “We hope our fans are ready for more in 2023 because we are not done!”

The Chicks, composed of Martie Maguire, Natalie Maines, and Emily Strayer, burst onto the country music scene in 1998 with their debut album, Wide Open Spaces. The band went on to become the best-selling U.S. female band of all time with more than 30.5 million albums sold.

In addition to 13 GRAMMYs, The Chicks have also been awarded six Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards, and numerous Country Music Association Awards among many other awards and accolades.
