The minimal tech track serves as the third single from her upcoming “Recital” EP due this spring.
Korean-American DJ and vocalist SOHMI has dropped the final single from her upcoming Recital EP, due next month on Thrive Music. Titled “Missin U,” the song is a club-ready take on her minimal pop-tech sound.
After her debut release in 2020, SOHMI, who was trained as a classical pianist, has rapidly advanced within the dance music scene. Her production on “Missin U” is top-notch, with crisp sound design that feels both fresh and nostalgic. Combining classic house rhythms with syncopated, jungle-inspired drums, the new tune is a testament to her talents as a producer and musician.
“The chopped up spoken words throughout the track were sampled from an actual voice message I left on my co-producer Sam’s phone,” SOHMI explained in a press statement. “It’s not an overly complex track, and was meant to capture a simple, fleeting feeling; the rush of leaving a voice message or reaching out to someone you haven’t spoken to—but have missed—for a long time.”
