As the season change, Scotty McCreery and his wife Gabi find themselves getting closer and closer to their baby boy’s due date. Gabi took to a moment to reminisce on her summer pregnancy and shared a series of photos to social media, showing off her bump.
Her caption read, “Reminiscin on a bumpin summer 💙☀️🤰🏽”
The photos gave a glimpse into life on the road, relaxing on the lake, hanging out backstage at the Grand Ole Opry and playing a few holes on the golf course.
McCreery commented on the heartwarming moments, showing his support and anticipation for the months ahead.
“😍 you n little man crushed this summer! Now for an eventful fall👀🙌🏼,” he wrote.
The “Damn Strait” singer revealed the baby news exclusively with People on Tuesday, June 21, sharing that their new addition will be arriving this November. The North Carolina was also excited to tell the world about their baby’s gender.
“We got a little man on the way,” he said with a smile.
“I was the only boy on both sides of my family, the last McCreery boy out there,” McCreery told the outlet. “Gabi’s from two sisters in her family, so I just figured it would be a girl. But we got a surprise of a boy.”
McCreery also told People that he and Gabi have “always talked about” having children together.
“We always knew we wanted kids, but we always knew we wanted the first few years to travel and have time on the road, to see things and experience life,” he shared. “We’ve gotten to live a lot of life and do some cool things, so it seems like now’s a good time to settle down a little and expand the family.”
Their love story began at an early age when they meet in Kindergarten. Back then, before she was officially his wife, Gabi would doodle hearts and write “Mrs. Gabi McCreery” in her diary, foreshadowing her future.
The couple tied the knot in June of 2018 and added their dog, Moose, to their family just a few months later.
In the midst of all the excitement, McCreery had something else to celebrate too. His single, “Damn Strait,” spent three weeks atop the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and marked his fifth consecutive No. 1 single since winning Season 10’s American Idol back in 2011.
“I’m still kind of processing it, I think, because to me, it still feels like yesterday,” McCreery told Country Now and other media on Wednesday (Aug. 10) afternoon.“My biggest goal – and I said this all the time – was I just want one song at the top of the charts. In my mind, that’s when you’ve known you made it, right? So to have five in a row is just bananas. We don’t take it lightly. We’re celebrating. We’re grateful and just having so much fun with this.”
Then, on Nov. 18, he surprised fans with the announcement that his 2021 Same Truck project isn’t finished yet. He revealed that this fall, he will be dropping a deluxe version that features six new songs, including his just-released “Nothin’ Right.”
“I’ve been sitting on these extra songs that we recorded since we started the Same Truck project and I’ve always wanted to hear this album on vinyl,” He wrote on Twitter.
When it comes to writing music, McCreery has been known to draw from his true emotions and his love for his wife. Now that they are expecting another great love to come into their lives, McCreery says he is finding new inspiration in the writing room.
“We’re just starting to get back into doing writes together,” he shared. “Even this morning, I was sitting down watching TV, and an idea came to me about a song for a baby coming on the way. I just started writing down some lyrics. I was like, ‘This might be a song.’ So, it is definitely on my mind.”
Scotty McCreery has a few more dates on the books before their baby boy arrives. His next performance is set for Sept. 24 in Hempstead, TX.
