Premiere of AFFÄIRE’s video for new single “Her Way Or The Highway” on Sleaze Roxx

Sleaze Roxx is honoured to premiere the video for Portuguese rockers AFFÄIRE‘s new single “Her Way Or The Highway.” AFFÄIRE consist of Tawny Rawk on lead vocals and bass, Rick Rivotti on guitars and backing vocals, and J.P. Costanza on drums and backing vocals.

AFFÄIRE‘s “Her Way Or The Highway” video:

Speaking exclusively to Sleaze Roxx, Costanza was asked about the departure of frontman Dizzy Dice Mike to which he advised: “Letting our former singer go was not an easy decision nor did we have an easy solution. In a nutshell, we were not feeling the band was all on the same page regarding goals and ways to reach them, and also the overall mood was suffering. The truth is, had we not changed the line-up then, we wouldn’t be speaking today, let alone releasing new music. Anyway, line-up changes are part of almost every band’s life and I’m glad we’re still friends now. Regarding the replacement, we put an ad out there and, after several months analyzing candidates and even playing a show with a guest singer, Tawny – who had been AFFÄIRE‘s bassist since 2017 – decided to step forward and do the job. He had been a singer in some bands in the past, including an Ozzy Osbourne tribute. We never wanted to push him, but we knew that this might end up happening, so we were never desperate. It was great finding a solution inside the band. He was already pretty familiar with our catalogue and knew how the band is supposed to sound when writing new music. We didn’t know what to expect live but his frontman stage presence actually surprised us!”

In terms of what the band has been up to during the last four years, Costanza indicated: “Well, we released our last album Less Ain’t More in 2019 and when we were like half the way promoting it and scheduling an European tour, the pandemic struck. So it feels like two of those years don’t actually count. Then, came thesinger situation. We kept writing new music at a possible pace, with lockdowns in between. Even though, we managed to play live at the Hard’n’Heavy Festival 2021 in Austria — with our friend André Vice from Yellow Dog Conspiracy as the guest singer — and at Coq Rock Festival 2022 in Belgium, where Tawny made his debut as our frontman. We also played with Enforcer in our hometown of Lisbon last December. Last year’s shows had Herr Mathïas, who recorded our first album, as a guest bassist.”

With respect to AFFÄIRE‘s future plans for the rest of 2023, Costanza revealed: “We already began recording songs for our next album. We felt it was important to put new music out, after four not so productive years, and show that we’re alive and kicking, ready for the next chapter! That’s why we are releasing a brand new single, presenting Tawny on vocals — and harmonica — and there are more on the forge, including a cover-version of an Alleycat Scratch tune! That’s a band we’re big fans of and we just had to do this at some point! Meanwhile, we don’t want to go power trio so we’re working with a bassist that we expect to present really soon as full-time member!”
