Old Dominion Takes A Trip Down 'Memory Lane' In Latest Release

Old Dominion is kicking off the year with a new song titled, “Memory Lane.” In addition to its release on Thursday (Jan. 5), the song will also be making its radio debut on the same day.

The band previously teased the sentimental track on TikTok, establishing a tremendous amount of excitement from fans. They proceeded to share details through another social media post on New Year’s Eve, which only added to the anticipation for its release.

Old Dominion’s new song served as a soundtrack for their own trip down memory lane. As they looked back on 2022, the band strung together a series of memories from the year and the experiences they had while opening for Kenny Chesney’s Here and Now Tour. In doing so, they shared a collection of photos and videos to social media and prompted fans to use “Memory Lane” to look back on their own highlights from the past year.

Old Dominion – Memory Lane

“Sometimes, when I’m feeling overwhelmed, or missing someone, or maybe just feel a little nostalgic, there are places in my mind I can go that are full of memories of simpler times. It’s a location, or a person, or a feeling that will always live in my memories and I can close my eyes and transport myself there anytime I want and experience it all again,” explained Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey. “I think we all have that time in our life that will remain forever perfect in our hearts. Sometimes we wish we could just stay there and never leave.”

Written by members Ramsey, Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi alongside GRAMMY-nominated songwriter Jessie Jo Dillon, “Memory Lane” takes listeners back to those times when their happiest memories were first created. The dynamic track creates a comforting outlet with its optimistic melody and dreamy tendencies that act as an undeniably sound addition to the band’s catalog.

This serves as the multi-Platinum selling, chart-topping band’s first piece of new music since the release of “Beer With My Friends” with Kenny Chesney this summer.

“Thinkin’ ‘bout those sunsets that bled into jean jacket nights / Those tangled up mornings lost in paradise / Still drunk on the feeling when I close my eyes / You’re pulling me closer, your head on my shoulder / We’d never let go and we’d never be over,” they sing.

Fans quickly took to the comment section of their recent social media posts to express their excitement and eagerness to learn every word in preparation of Old Dominion’s highly-anticipated No Bad Vibes Tour. This trek is set to kick off in the spring of 2023 with opening acts Shawn Austin, Greylan James, Kassi Ashton and Frank Ray.

Ray, Ashton & James will all be supporting the United States dates while Ray, Austin, and Steven Lee Olson will be supporting the Canadian dates.

Following the heels of their time on the road with Kenny Chesney’s Here and Now 2022 Tour, which included an opening performance from the band at twenty-three stadiums over the summer, their headlining tour is set to launch January 19 at the Ford Center in Evansville, IN and wrap up on July 30th in Lake Tahoe, NV.

Old Dominion recently took home the title of Favorite Duo or Group in the fan-voted Country Now Awards. Click above to watch Matthew Ramsey’s message to fans.
