According to a new study, African American women such as Zendaya, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and others make up the top ten most searched in Google for 2022.

Recent research indicates that Zendaya is the most searched African American woman in the United States for 2022.

Using Google search data for over 100 of the most influential African American women since January 1, 2022, the black social commentators at ThatSister examined which African American woman was the most talked about in 2022.

  1. Zendaya was ranked as the top African American woman searched on Google in 2022, with an average of 2.71 million searches each month. Zendaya has had an incredibly successful year due to her appearance in the 2021 sci-fi film Dune and her role in HBO’s series Euphoria. With her numerous acting accomplishments throughout the year, she has been in the spotlight due to her relationship with Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland.

Rihanna; Most Googled, But Not In Official Rankings

Since singer Rihanna is a Barbarian who is not a U.S. citizen, she is not included in the official ranking. Therefore, she was Googled an average of 1.77 million times each month this year, slightly lower than Zendaya’s. In 2005, Rihanna made her debut in the world with her hit single “Pon de Relay.” Since then, she has rarely been out of the news.

In addition to releasing internationally successful albums, hit singles, and features, Rihanna has also launched a successful clothing and cosmetics line. As a result of these innovative moves, she has maintained a prominent position in the public eye for many years. Also, announcing that she would headline the Super Bowl Halftime show in 2023, the “Lift Me Up” singer made headlines with the birth of her first child with partner A$AP Rocky.

  • 2. Serena Williams was estimated to receive the second-highest Google searches in the United States in 2022. The announcement of Williams’ resignation from tennis in August 2022 sent shockwaves throughout the country and abroad. This resulted in search rates of 1.65 million monthly searches for the star.

  • 3. Meghan Markle is a member of the British Royal Family and the wife of King Charles III’s son, Prince Harry. Recently, the actress and Harry were the subjects of headlines regarding the upcoming release of their Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan. Markle is ranked third in this year’s Google searches for African-American women. Google searches for Meghan have exceeded 1.56 million per month this year.

The Most Googled African American Women List Continues

  • 4. When it comes to celebrities who have worked in the music industry for an extended period, Beyoncé stands out as a top-tier personality. Having debuted as a solo artist in 2003, Beyonce has become a household name. As a result of the release of her seventh studio album, Renaissance, which dropped in July, she was Googled 1.20 million times each month across America in 2022, making her the fourth most talked about African American woman this year.

Recently, there was a release of her new book, “The Light We Carry.” Michelle ranks fifth, with an average of 1.19 million Google searches per month, slightly behind Beyoncé.

  • 6. Set It Off actress Jada Pinkett-Smith ranks sixth, receiving 1.16 million Google searches monthly. Pinkett-Smith was in the spotlight during the Academy Awards after her husband, Will Smith, slapped comedian Chris Rock. Additionally, her relationship with R&B singer August Alsina caused friction within her marriage, which caused Jada’s popularity to rise.

It Hasn’t Ended Just Yet!

  • 7. Known for her successful talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah Winfrey has been a significant figure on television since 1985. Since broadcasting nationally in 1986, the program has become the highest-rated television talk show in the United States and has won multiple Emmy Awards. As of 2022, Oprah is the seventh most searched African American woman on Google. In the United States, she is Googled 1.15 million times each month.

In the eighth and ninth places, accordingly, are rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.

8. Since signing with Young Money in 2009, Nicki Minaj has released several hit singles. Currently, most of the attention she receives is based on the No. 1 single “Super Freaky Girl,” which contributes to the 1.12 million times she is searched on Google in the United States each month.

9. Recently, Cardi B has been in the spotlight since her husband Offset’s cousin, and former Migos member Takeoff was killed outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 1. Cardi was searched 940K times per month throughout 2022 on average.

1o. Whoopi Goldberg, the host of The View and recipient of an Emmy Award, rounds out the top ten, being searched 648K times per month on average in America throughout the year.

“This year has seen several notable celebrities hit the headlines for their acting successes, new albums, and personal endeavors.” According to the spokesperson, it will be interesting to see if these search figures will be changed in 2023 when the study is completed.
