“High and Low” is a song by musician, songwriter and producer, Julez Gardner, its his debut single due for release in June 2020. This single is off his first album Reveal, which will be released later in 2021, so look out for it! This single is co – produced by the amazing Hunt. The track will be available to download from Apple Music and Spotify music.
Lisa: Hi Julez! What first got you into music? What did you wanted to become when you were a child?
Julez:
When I was 9 I started playing drums in a band with my brother Simon, my dad was also in a band that inspired us to start playing, it was like in our blood to do it.
Lisa: How do you describe your music to people?
Julez:
My Music has been Inspired by the likes of Avicii, Calvin Harris and David Guetta. I wanted to take the world of EDM and fuse mainstream elements in it that make it something people who aren’t necessarily fans of electronic music could fall in enamored.
Lisa: What is your creative process like?
Julez:
Most of the time I write my tunes when I’m out walking through the streets in London or anywhere, thats how I wrote “High & Low” I remember being excited to get home in the studio quick to play the piano to the melody. I then create sounds and explore the music production once i put down the piano of all the song arrangement .
Lisa: I really like your debut single “HIGH & LOW”. Can you tell me more about it? What is it about, and how did you get inspired to write it?
Julez:
3 years ago my girlfriend and I broke up after a long term relationship, to be honest I was feeling very heart broken and I turned to my music to get me through a difficult time in my life. I suddenly started to write and produce lots of songs from the heart. So “High & Low” was all about wanting someone without the commitment of a relationship.
Lisa: Can you tell us a bit more about your upcoming album Reveal?Is there a theme that will connect the songs or something else?
Julez:
The past three years have been filled with nonstop music-making, I’ve written 2 albums. My first album “Reveal” is set for release in 2021. My debut single “High & Low.” is a taste of what’s to come on the album. The album is all about revealing the past 3 years journey of my life, through the High and lows.
Lisa: What is one message you would give to your fans?
Julez:
My debut single release for me has always been a dream of mine and my message is “please come and support me on my Journey in Music”.
Lisa: What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
Julez:
I’m a professional designer, I love all aspects of design.
Lisa: How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
Julez:
The industry I feel has dramatically changed, the days of trying to get heard is more assessable now through streaming with music platforms . You can release your music yourself, this was virtually impossible years ago. Artists would hit a brick wall, trying to get a record deal without a fan base or followers, as now you can build fan bases from being heard on Spotify, Apple music and Deezer for example.
Lisa: Which famous musicians do you admire, and would like to work with?
Julez:
I would of loved to had the chance to work with Avicii, amazing musician. I’d also love to work with David Guetta, Calvin Harris and also the singer songwriter Halsey.
Lisa: Are you planning to collaborate with any other artist?
Julez:
Nothing planned yet, I’d love to collaborate with other singers. Working with Hunt is my first collaboration, but I’d love the opportunity to work with other artists going into the future.
Lisa: What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Julez:
My Dad always said, never give up, keep chipping away at it.
Lisa: What’s next for Julez?
Julez:
Finishing off the album now, I’ve got 3 more tracks to release by the end of 2020 so listen out. My second single, “Beautiful Mind,” will be dropping in September 2020.
