We’ve had a chance to talk to another talented artist Sarina Haggarty on her amazing new release “Easy Tiger” and more.

Sarina Haggarty is an inspiration figure for many. Successfully selling out music venues, she has released 2 EP’s and many singles. Her music branches out into every genre possible and she continually gains attention for her soulful songs that are beyond her years. Sarina is a hospital and Make-A-Wish ambassador.

In 2017, she had the pleasure of performing on a big stage with Canadian’s own Shawn Mendes. Her wish was said to be highlight of the year internationally for Make-A-Wish. Since the start, she has been giving back to the community and the world as much as she can with her story and her voice.

Lisa: Hi Sarina! Where are you based?

Sarina: I am based in London, Ontario. I book a lot of gigs outside of London and around the world when travelling.

Lisa: How long have you been making music?

Sarina: I wrote my first song called “Reach for the Stars” probably when I was 11 or 12. I grew up listening to every genre and eventually I became confident about sharing and developing my skills. I released my first EP in 2016 and since then, I’ve been continually releasing music and creating it with others.

Lisa: What genre would you consider your music to be?

Sarina: I find my genre to be changing every song I write. I’m aiming for Pop/Alt. However, I end up mixing it up with Folk and Country too.

Lisa: What inspired you to pursue a career in music?

Sarina: My friends and my family inspired me and impacted my journey to pursue this career. The amount of support from fans and listeners also has given me endless hope.

Lisa: What are your biggest musical influences?

Sarina: Biggest musical influences would be Ed Sheeran, Carole King, Maggie Rogers, Vance Joy, Julia Michaels and many many more. I am inspired by the performances, writing skills and the passion they put into their music.

Lisa: Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?

Sarina: I am currently an independent artist.

Lisa: What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?

Sarina: One of the biggest challenges I have gone through in my music career is when I first started to network and perform in 2016. I was a young, wise, female artist but people automatically saw me as a teen and did not treat me as an artist. Luckily, I am treated differently now, being 22 because of my energy and my voice. I always tell young artist how I went through that and how they need to go into anything with an open-mind and prove those people wrong. Another challenge has been to try and find my own unique sound. I am way closer to finding it compared to before.

Lisa: How many songs or albums have you released to date? Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?

Sarina: I have released 2 EP’s (Missing Pieces in 2016 & Compass in 2018) and I have released 7 singles. I’ve had the opportunity to co-write and write songs to submit for sync too.

My latest release was a single called “Easy Tiger”. I was working with producer, Moe Berg in EMAC Recording Studios and we were co-writing songs. Then, I ended up writing one last minute and I was really excited to show him and start working on it right away. It turned into a more acoustic-folky genre. The lyrics are about telling someone to calm down, and stop confusing someone with their feelings, words or thoughts. Probably one of my favourites written!

Lisa: Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?

Sarina: I do have some songs ready to be released this summer!!! First song is called A Little Longer and it is coming out May 28th. I am working on a music video too so keep an eye out for that!

Thank you!
