Twenty-Three-year-old emerging American singer/songwriter, Haley Gold, has spent the last year writing and recording her own original music after the split of all-star girl group DAME, managed by Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men.
Drawing her musical influence from the artists, Julia Michaels, Katy Perry and, Lady Gaga, Haley is not seen without a notebook & pen in hand as she is constantly writing and flowing with ideas. Haley is not just a brand but a girl from New York sharing her personal stories through her guitar & lyric-centric music.
She hopes to hit hearts & connect to those who can relate or feel the same way. After Haleys break out single, “Butterflies” was released in June 2020; she remains an “open book” telling the stories about her past break-ups. “Knock Yourself Out” Haley’s fourth release made its debut on May 14th, 2021.
Lisa: Where are you based?
Haley Gold: New York, NY.
Lisa: How long have you been making music?
Haley Gold: 3 years now.
Lisa: What genre would you consider your music to be?
Haley Gold: Pop/ Singer Songwriter.
Lisa: What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
Haley Gold: My grandpa on my moms side was actually in a boy accapella group ironically (similar to my past in the music world) but he was my main source for inspiration to jump into the fire and sing.
Lisa: What are your biggest musical influences?
Haley Gold: No lie, I was a big Belieber when I was younger but I draw my influence from writes Julia Micheals, Miley Cyrus & Jon Bellion.
Lisa: Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
Haley Gold: I am independent
Lisa: What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Haley Gold: Biggest challenges for me was realizing the only person you need to me in this industry is yourself. When I was younger being in my girl group I felt lost because we were told that we all had to be alike or in sync. When leaving I was so nervous about showing off who I was and hoping people will gravitate towards it. Breaking out of my shell and telling stories through music about my dating life or growing up has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I even dyed my hair pink too! 17 year old Haley would be so proud for unleashing this level of confidence & power.
Lisa: How many songs or albums have you released to date? Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
Haley Gold:I have released 3 singles during the pandemic in 2020 (which was a first for me EVER!) and just released my newest song “Knock Yourself Out” which I am so beyond happy about, it’s one of those songs that I’ve been determined to write for years and I feel THIS is exactly what I wanted to say and show off as an up and coming artist.SOOO haha i was in a little bit of a sticky situation where a friend of mine started talking to me ex boyfriend (not knowing he was my ex because we recently became friends. New York City is soo small trust me) but anyways she had shown me a picture of him and of course I told her everything but it’s not my place to make her decision for her. It’s not worth losing a friend and that’s when the song was born. I cannot thank my co writers enough for creating this beautiful song with me Jesse Blumenfeld & Fran Litterski.
Lisa: Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
Haley Gold: OF COURSE! There’s a ton of new music which challenges my old sound but what I always say is people grow up every single day and always have stories to tell, I mean IM NOT EVEN 25 YET and have even more to see and experience!
