KIX drummer Jimmy Chalfant credits bassist Mark Schenker & guitar tech Brandon Dull with saving his life
Drummer Jimmy Chalfant suffered a very close call back on November 18, 2022 when he experienced a sudden cardiac arrest that caused him to collapse on stage while KIX were playing at the Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, Virginia, USA.
The following message was posted on Chalfant‘s Facebook page earlier yesterday:
It will be 2 weeks tonight since I suffered a SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest), on November 18, 2022, during the KIX show at Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, VA. I won’t go into detail here because frankly, I don’t remember any of it. And, Mark Schenker pretty well covered everything with his perspective of what happened.
First and foremost, I wanna thank the Lord above for allowing me to stay here on this Earth a while longer. Second, Brandon And Mark, you guys are my Heroes. I’m forever grateful to you for jumping in without hesitation to save my life. Your training kicked in instantly and was the difference in me pulling through this so well.
Last, but certainly not least, I’m blown away by all the love, support and understanding shown to me, my wife Cathy, and my KIX Band Brothers and Crew. There are no words that can express what it really means to me. THANK YOU!!!
I’m healing slowly but surely and I plan to be back and ready to ROCK YOUR FACE OFF in February. Of course, that’s if my cardiologist and Cathy both clear me to do so. Until then, go support live music in your area, and TAKE A CPR CLASS!!!
Peace & Love,
