Kelly Clarkson is acting as the ultimate hype woman for two of her fellow singer/songwriters – Lainey Wilson and Cody Johnson.
Even though Clarkson recently put out her own album titled, Chemistry, the American Idol alum is prompting fans to check out some of her favorite songs by these two country artists.
Taking to Twitter on Monday, July 10, Clarkson wrote, “If you’re needing a break from listening to my new album “Chemistry” then check out @laineywilson “wildflowers and wild horses” & @codyjohnson “when it comes to you” ❤️”
She went on to guarantee that listeners will also take a liking to these songs by Wilson and Johnson. However, if they don’t, she makes it clear that she doesn’t approve of their music choices.

Wilson’s powerful “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” appears on her latest album, Bell Bottom Country, while the heart-pounding lyrics of Johnson’s “When It Comes To You” is featured on his most recent full-length project, Human The Double Album.
Several users expressed their appreciation for her recommendations while also showing her own album some love.
“I’ll give it a go Kelly, and I never ever get tired of listening to #chemistry 🥰🥰❤️❤️ xxx lovee youu xx,” one fan wrote while another commented, “I don’t need a break because chemistry is a masterpiece but I’ll go listen solely because you recommend them.”
Additionally, Wilson was quick to share her response to the supportive post as she wrote, “Well dang. This means the world from you sister. Love you❣️”
Kelly Clarkson’s latest collection of songs stemmed from her 2020 divorce from her husband, Brandon Blackstock. Throughout the two-sided, 14-track project, Clarkson gets personal with listeners as she opens up her heart to illustrate this difficult time through songs like “Me,” “Mine,” “Red Flag Collector” and more.
“Having chemistry with someone is an incredible and overwhelming, feeling. It’s like you have no choice in the matter. You are just drawn to each other. This can be good and bad,” she explained on Instagram. “This album takes you down every path that chemistry could lead you down. We decided to release ‘mine’ and ‘me’ at the same time because I didn’t want to release just one song to represent an entire album or relationship. There are many stages of grief and loss on this album. Each song is a different stage and emotional state.”
Clarkson is currently preparing to bring her music to the stage on her 10-date Las Vegas residency, dubbed Chemistry…An Intimate Night With Kelly Clarkson.
She announced the news on Twitter in March 2023 with a post that read, “It’s happening, y’all! 🎶 I’m so excited to announce that I’m finally heading to Las Vegas for 10 shows this summer!”
The Tweet also gave fans a sneak peek at the setlist which she revealed will include fan-favorites as well as some brand-new songs.
“I’ll be straight up: I’m gonna be that artist who’s definitely gonna give you all those songs you want to hear, because I hate when I go to shows and people don’t give me that,” Clarkson told Billboard. “So you’re gonna hear all the ones that, honestly, we haven’t performed in forever. We haven’t been able to!”
As Clarkson continued to share her excitement with the outlet, she went on to promise that “all 10 shows will be different.” Additionally, she revealed, “there’s definitely gonna be the hits in all of them, but we’re sprinkling in covers that people have liked or album tracks that people have liked here and there. … I’m going to hit all the [new] album, just on different nights.”
Chemistry…An Intimate Night with Kelly Clarkson kicks off July 28 and will take place at Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The highly-anticipated run is set to continue through August 19.
