DEF LEPPARD drummer Rick Allen recently spoke to Rodrigo Altaf of Sonic Perspectives about touring with MÖTLEY CRÜE this past summer on “The Stadium Tour.” This was nearly seven years after Vince Neil-fronted MÖTLEY CRÜE played what they said would be their last show at the time.
“It’s great touring with those guys,” Rick said. We thought they were done. Then we asked them to come out with us, and it didn’t take much persuasion to get them to get back out on the road. Now it’s fantastic, because now we’re seeing the friendship between Nikki [Sixx, bass] and Tommy [Lee, drums] is back where it was. For many years they just really didn’t like each other, and I think for them to see things in hindsight and realize all the good that they’ve done, they realize that their legacy was intact. So it’s great to be touring with those guys.”
After the successful North American tour in 2022, DEF LEPPARD and MÖTLEY CRÜE are going on a global tour in 2023 with Alice Cooper. The U.S. dates have been announced today after launching European and Latin American tours.
The world tour’s US leg, produced by Live Nation, starts on August 5 in Syracuse, New York. The bands will play across America throughout August, including the H.A. Chapman Stadium’s very first show in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
“After finally getting back on the road this past summer, we’re beyond thrilled to bring this massive tour to a global audience including some special dates in America,” said Joe Elliott of DEF LEPPARD.
MÖTLEY CRÜE added: “We had an incredible time playing ‘The Stadium Tour’ in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe with ‘The World Tour’ in 2023. Crüeheads get ready because we have a few amazing U.S. dates set for you!”
