Canadian artist and occasional pot stirrer Drake recently made waves when he confirmed the almost year-old claims of his being arrested in Sweden.

The “Hotline Bling” rapper touched down in Sweden in July 2022 after flying in his blue private jet dubbed Air Drake. When social media lit up with comments about Drake’s apparent arrest, his team dispelled the rumors swiftly and said he was in his hotel in Stockholm and not arrested.

Local reports said while Drake was Sweden he was spotted in the Ostermalm district of Stockholm where he visited a restaurant called Ciccio’s.

Now, a whole year later, Drizzy confirmed the claims on Instagram.

“The funds are useful,” he captioned the post that seemingly shows he was arrested during his time in Sweden.

“The lyrics are truthful. The suspects are usual. The opps are delusional. The finish line is beautiful. And the disrespect is mutual. See you in 23.”

In the post, Drake can be seen on video in handcuffs detained by police. Early reports say he may have smoked marijuana while in a local club, leading to his arrest.

This spirals a series of questions —

  • Why are there conflicting reports from both Drake and his team?
  • Was he really detained during his time in Stockholm or is there more to the story?

The “Certified Lover Boy” posted on his Instagram a since-deleted photo of a document allegedly from Swedish police entitled “Information for Those Suspected of a Crime and Subsequently Detained” followed by his rights in Sweden and what happens to suspects.

While all of this seems to confirm Drake was arrested in the Elongated Country, it may seem fishy that he puts the rumors to rest after he confirmed he would be going on tour in 2023.

This also wouldn’t be the first time he’s done something similar. In efforts to promote “Her Loss”, Drizzy’s collaboration album with Atlanta rapper 21 Savage, he employed unique marketing campaigns.

The 6 God has broken several records throughout his career, including surpassing The Beatles with the most top five hits. Now, he’s reached a new milestone. Drake has tied with Jay-Z for the most No.1 albums on the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B charts.
