Jake Bluez has stepped into a music scene now more than 10 years ago. Since then, there has been no sign of slowing down with making music. That being said, 2020 will be the year of rejuvenation for Jake. This is due to the fact he has put hours and hours into his new album and singles, and he is eager to share with his audience. And we had an honor doing this interview with a very talented musician.

Lisa: What first got you into music?

Jake:

So I originally got into music as most people do, by stumbling upon a CD and was just captivated by it. That CD was DR Dre 2001, and it really had a profound affect because as I listened to each new song I was introduced to plethora of other artists I had never heard of. Although my interests began to grown it wasn’t til many years later that I attempted making music for my self. When I was in highschool I originally started off focusing on the production end of things and making beats, and did my best to collaborate with artists from the local scene. After years of not much headway or successful ventures, I turned my sights on becoming a vocalist and have stuck with it for the last 10 years.

Lisa: How do you describe your music to people?

Jake:

When describing my music to people I try very carefully not to box myself in, because I most definitely don’t limit the amount of different styles that I’m willing to experiment with. If I had to describe it my best though I’d say it’s lighthearted lyrics, over heavy beats and themes that represent the hustle and bustle of today’s rap scene. If that makes any scense.

Lisa: What is your creative process like?

Jake:

I have a couple different creative processes as a matter of fact, and they all very much have to do with how I’m feeling that day, or what’s going on in my life. My favorite one would have to be just walking my dog and listening to my head phones. It’s amazing how much inspiration you can garner from just walking around and observing day to day life. My second favorite is from scratch in the studio, with my producers and any other artists who might be there. You can feel the electricity in the air when every one in the room is channeling their creative energy towards a common goal. It’s magical.

Lisa: What is the most important thing you’ve learned doing music for 10 years?

Jake:

The absolute most important thing I’ve learned from being involved in this lonely business for 10 years, is that you can’t or shouldn’t be doing it for any other reason than you enjoyment. You should do it because you love it, because it brings a smile to your face, because it give you a sense of accomplishment. If you in it just for the views on YouTube, or the streams on Spotify that’s a sure way to get discouraged. So if that’s the only reason you into it, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Lisa: I really liked the song “Woodstock”. Can you tell me more about it? What is it about, and how did you get inspired to write it?

Jake:

The song Woodstock just really came to me one day, and I guess the easiest way for me to explain this is that, I wanted to flash back to a simpler time in history. Amid Covid 19 the world is at a complete stand still, so I wanted to venture back to the iconic festival that changed pop culture for ever and pay my respect. Not to mention the world as we speak of it could use some Woodstock togetherness, and thats how it all came together.

Lisa: What is the message you are trying to give with your music?

Jake:

I feel as if the message behind my music is up for interpretation, some of it may be perceived as positive, and also on the other hand could be perceived as negative. At the end of it all I just want it to represent me, good parts and bad

Lisa: What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

Jake:

Nothing positive, so I’ll just leave that one blank

Lisa: What can we expect with your upcoming album?

Jake:

Well first and foremost, I have an EP with my brother alxycat on the way which I’m extremely excited about called “Last Place Trophy”. Aside from that I have tons and tons of solo material in the vault, just waiting for the right moment.

Lisa: Which famous musicians do you admire, and would like to work with?

Jake:

Honestly I could go on for ever, let’s just say I’m both a fan and greatful to be alive during this era of music.

Lisa: Are you planning to collaborate with any other artist?

Jake:

Aside from this collaboration EP with my brother Alxycat, I haven’t given it much thought. That being said I’m always open to working and meeting new common minded thinkers and getting some work done.

Lisa: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Jake:

The best piece of advice I been given in my life is honesty just do you, and by that I mean constantly be searching for the individual inside of you. Find what makes you happy and if that happens to be music, don’t let anyone try and talk down to you about it. It’s not easy and it’s not for everyone, believe me I have had more eyes rolled at me for being a rapper then I can count. Only thing is my skin so think these days non of that phase me, so just stay strong out there.

Lisa: What’s next for Jake Bluez?

Jake:

I am currently planning a very special album that I have been working on since January. Up until about a year and a half ago I was it a group called “Cyber Bullyz”. So this new one I’m working on will be my first solo project since 2015. I’m excited to say the least, I got group of new people in my corner and I think everyone going to be pleasantly surprised with this outcome. Can’t wait honestly.
