We did an interview with AV. AV is 22 years old from North Carolina.

“Music is something that has always been apart of my life! I’m currently working on a project that means a lot to me. So yeah hopefully you guys can get to know me better! Let’s get it!”

Lisa: Hi AV! Growing up, how important was music in your life? Can you recall the moment when you decided that you wanted to be a musician? Was it an easy or difficult choice to make?

AV: Growing up I was always around music. Sometimes I used to stay with my grandma and she had a piano and used to play it while I watched. As I got older I found an interest in playing instruments such as guitar, drums and a little bit of the piano. As time went on I got big into guitar hero and rock band! That’s when I discovered rock music and was big into music coming from Aero Smith, Guns N Roses, Metallica, and Kiss! Eventually I got into hip/hop listening to Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Eminem, Kid Cudi  and a lot more!”

The moment I decided I wanted to be an artist was a couple of years ago. I used to chill with my boys and freestyle a little bit in high school on an app called RapChat! They told me I should do something about it so that’s when I took that step forward! One day my friend and I sat down and wrote a song called “Stop Drippin” got in a studio, recorded it and put it out! I got a lot of positive feedback and decided to follow up with my first small project, an EP called “Commencement”. I wouldn’t say it was a hard decision for me, I would say it was a decision that I had to be sure of! Since then I’ve been making music ever since.

Lisa: Describe your approach to recording.

AV: When I’m in the studio recording, I’ll listen to a beat and come up with a catchy melody. Sometimes I won’t even say lyrics or make sense in the song. After I find the right melody, that’s when I will punch in and write lyrics to the song! This process is one of my favorite parts about making music. After the record is complete it’s really just a vibe and to hear the entire song completed it makes you want to keep going.

Lisa: I love your single “9-5”. What is it about, and where did you get inspiration to write it?

AV: Thank you, I really appreciate it! “9-5” was a song that was supposed to be on my upcoming album, but after it was recorded, my manager and team told me to put it out! At first I saw it as just another song for my album but after making the decision to release it as a single, it was the right time! “9-5” is a song about a lifestyle that relates to people who are going through more than just working a 9-5! My inspiration to write this song originated from my personal experiences of living that type of life!

Lisa: From the time you started music to where you’re at now, how do you think you have progressed in music?

AV: I definitely feel like I am progression! The more you work at something the better you get at it. It’s like baseball or basketball or anything really, the more practice the better you get. Personally I feel like I have gotten a lot better than what I was before! Constantly changing my flow and experimenting with different styles of music  has its perks when recording! I’ve been perfecting my craft in the studio every time I’m recording! Practice makes perfect!

Lisa: What advice or philosophy might you impart to other musicians, be it in forms of creativity, technical stuff, the business side of it, or anything else?

AV: Advice that I would give to other musicians is to stay patience! Personally I struggle with this myself but patience is key! The most important advice I would give is to always believe in yourself! Don’t let or allow any negative energy get to you, make sure you are surrounding yourself with positivity! I respect and love all my fans as well as other artist and musicians! This run is a marathon not a sprint! Make sure your endurance is up!

Lisa: What is your view on technology in music?

AV: Technology in music is advancing more and more everyday! With the amount of samples and sounds that are within the production of music and beat making, music is constantly changing and growing! Producing music with the use of technology is something that takes time and involves a lot of trial and error!

Lisa: How would you describe the music that you create? And what should your fans expect?

AV: I would say my music is really a feel good type of vibe. I don’t really plan it out that much or think about it that much, I kind of just go in the studio and make anything I can, depending on how I’m feeling!

My fans should expect an album that has a variety of vibes to it! I have songs that range from an upbeat melodic scale, to hard rap, to slow, easy, and steady flows! I’m very excited to give my fans new music and hope they decode my lyrics and message within the project!

Lisa: What are your plans for the future?

AV: As of right now I am just living in the moment and taking in everything that is happening! I plan to continue making the best quality music I can! I am in the process of working on new music and completed my album that will have 12-13 tracks! Possibly might drop a deluxe album to follow it up! I have a lot of plans and goals for the future but for right now all I can say is get ready for this album!!!!

Lisa: What do you hope people take away from your music?

AV: What I hope people take away from my music is to just be yourself! I used to be so caught up on what people thought about me but in reality it doesn’t matter! What matters is who you are when you look in the mirror! I hope that my fans and supporters understand the message that I am bringing in my music! Always remember who you are and know you can do anything you put your mind to in this world! Now let’s turn up!! Album soon!!!!

Thank you!
