“Red Earth Creek” marks the Canadian producer’s first single off his forthcoming self-titled album.

Increasingly aware of the landscape’s ability to sync up with the subconscious, Canadian producer Höhn has released “Red Earth Creek,” a meditative new track.

Incorporating elements of biomusic, “Red Earth Creek” marks Höhn first single off his forthcoming self-titled album. Composed from the tiniest of sound-makers, like flies and mosquitos, to the effervescent flowing streams, distant fireworks, tossed firewood, crashing waves and warbling birds, his upcoming album spans seven tracks created using field recordings.

In the same way the start of a backpacking trip evokes a sense of adventure and slight wariness, “Red Earth Creek,” is emblematic of the perseverance that takes over in the elements, and the capacity for non-human connection to shift us into a primal state of relaxation. After traveling and camping through four remote locations across Alberta and Quebec, Höhn turned raw sound into hypnotic composition. Using a few penned adjectives and sketched images to guide him, he ensured each song in Höhn was entirely composed using sounds recorded from each location, crystallizing each sonic atmosphere into a unique artifact.

“Humans interact with place in a way that we don’t always understand,” Höhn said in a statement. “We are losing sight in our digital age of how much we are a reflection of our surroundings.”
