Depeche Mode coming back five years later with a new album and a 2023 tour. Their new album titled ‘Memento Mori‘ will release in Spring 2023. Also, Depeche Mode‘s tour kicks off in Sacramento, California, in March 2023.

Memento Mori” is the band’s first album following founding member Andy “Fletch” Fletcher’s death in May. This album also follow-up on Depeche Mode‘s latest and 2017’s “Spirit” album.

“We started work on this record early in the epidemic, and its themes were directly inspired by that time,” Martin Gore also remarked of the album. Following Fletch’s death, we chose to continue because we believe this is what he would have wanted, and this has given the project a new degree of significance.”

Dave Gahan also added: “Fletch would have loved this album. We are really looking forward to sharing it with you soon, and we can’t wait to present it to you live at the shows next year.”

With the release of “Memento Mori” in 2023, Depeche Mode will embark on a big global tour that will begin in North America in March 2023 and conclude in Oslo, Norway, in August. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2020 inductee’s first live concerts in five years will take place on March 23rd in Sacramento.

Dave Gahan also talked about the upcoming album during the studio session on last summer: “We wanted to take a moment and acknowledge the outpouring of love for Andy that we’ve seen from all of you over the last few weeks. It’s incredible to see all of your photos, to read your words, and to see how much Andy meant to all of you. As you can imagine, it’s been a strange, sad, disorienting few weeks for us here, to say the least. But we have seen and felt all of your love and support, and we know that Andy’s family has too.

There is a tonne of stuff that we’ve done with Depeche Mode that I’m really proud of. I think that’s come with time and age. Martin put out a record last year which I really liked. I actually bought a copy because it wouldn’t feel right otherwise. I know he’s been pottering away in his studio as well, so I guess at some point next year we’ll get together. Hopefully, at least to just have a chat about what we both feel like we could move forward with.”

Depeche Mode‘s “Memento Mori” will release in Spring 2023 via Columbia Records.
