Conner Smith Soaks up the Moment in Blazing ‘Creek Will Rise'

Conner Smith throws a party by the lake with his sweetheart and friends in his fiery, hit-ready new single, “Creek Will Rise.”

Composed by Smith, Chris LaCorte, Chase McGill, and Parker Welling, the song finds Smith yearning for a rise in the water level by the creek in order to savor the passionate moments he has with his girlfriend.

While the accompanying music video doesn’t capture all of that, it still spotlights all the fun to be had by the lake, which includes air-boating, enjoying a bonfire, riding down a dirt road, and enjoying some freshly-caught crawfish. The heart-racing visualizer was directed by Smith’s brother and creative director, Cooper Smith.

“Yeah, a girl like her on a night like this / Make a man wanna stay right where he is / There’s trouble in the way her green eyes are glowin’ / I’m holdin’ on tight, prayin’ and hopin’ / This truck battery dies / Or the road’s too muddy to drive / Wanna stay right here all night / If the good Lord’s willin’, that creek will rise,” Smith sings in the fast-paced twangy chorus over well-layered guitar licks, dobro, drums, and fiddles lines. Notably, the Tennessee native also offers a witty and inventive play on the age-old expression, “Lord willing and the Creek don’t rise.”

“I’ve never been more excited for a song to come out. ‘Creek Will Rise’ has already taken my live show to a new level and feels like the start of the next chapter of my music,” Smith tells the press of his undeniable summer-ready smash. “This music video is special to me because it is an adventure that my best friend, my brother, and I took down in Louisiana. It brings the energy of the song to life visually and I’m so happy to have that memory captured as the video for this song.”

“Creek Will Rise” is Smith’s first release of 2023 and the latest with his label home, The Valory Music Co. It follows 2022’s “Orange and White,” “Summer on Your Lips,” and his debut EP, Didn’t Go Too Far, which included the singles “Learn From It” and “Take It Slow,” as well as the viral “I Hate Alabama.”

Smith is now on the road for his debut headlining trek. The If I Went to College Tour includes runs in Georgia, Mississippi, Los Angeles, and Nashville, with alternating opening acts Jonathan Hutcherson and Mackenzie Carpenter. The fast-rising artist will join Chase Rice on tour next month, before spending the summer with Luke Bryan on his Country On Tour.

“Creek Will Rise” is slated to be Smith’s brand-new single and will hit country radio later this Spring.
