The iconic Grand Ole Opry stage is coming to the small screen on Thursday evening (Dec. 7) with Christmas at the Opry. The first-ever two-hour holiday TV special from the Opry will feature a star-studded lineup of artists performing Christmas classics and originals from country music’s most famous stage.

Who Is Hosting Christmas at the Opry

Wynonna Judd is set to host Christmas at the Opry. Judd’s appearance comes just weeks after she received the Country Champion Award at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards, which also took place at the Grand Ole Opry House in the fall.

“Get ready for a good old-fashioned country sing-along Opry style. It’s time to celebrate the season, and it’s all about food, fellowship and your faith, and we become family,” Wynonna teased in a promotional clip for the festive event.

Cassandra Tryon, Senior Vice President, Live Events, NBCUniversal Entertainment, said,  “Wynonna is one of the most recognized and lauded performers in country music. Not only is she incredibly talented, her selflessness and passion for putting the needs of others in the spotlight is unmatched. We can’t think of a better person to honor as our inaugural ‘Country Champion’ and to celebrate the holidays with across these two major country music events.”

With this TV special, Wynonna hopes to bring people together and put aside any disagreements so that the community can bring a bit of light to the days and continue to “show up for each other no matter what’s going on.”

“It’s been a tough year for a lot of people. I hope that somebody feels better after watching the show than they did before,” she added in conclusion.
