'American Idol' Winner Chayce Beckham Reveals Why He’s Been Silent On Social Media

Beckham took a moment to showcase his gratitude after the song claimed the top spot on both country radio charts.

Chayce Beckham earned his first-ever No.1 single this week as his debut platinum release, “23” claims the top spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase Country charts.

Streaming Numbers Skyrocket

The self-penned tune is a streaming giant, raking in over 5.8 million streams per week with over 391 million total global on-demand streams. Additionally, “23” has accumulated more than 10 million YouTube views to date.

Beckham admits he’s in disbelief over the news and how far he’s come since he wrote it.

“I still can’t believe or process ’23’ is #1 at country radio,” the California native shared in a statement. “I wrote this song when I had nothing to my name. Fast forwarding to now, to living out my dream, I just feel so blessed. I want to shake every single person’s hand that made this possible – thank you.”

Making History

According to Billboard, Beckham’s “23” is the first Billboard Country Airplay chart-topper written by a solo writer since “Fast Car” topped the charts last summer. Prior to that, the most recent Country Airplay No.1, solely composed and performed by the artist, was Taylor Swift’s “Ours” back in 2012.

Debut Album Out April 5

“23” hit the top of the charts just days before the release of Beckham’s long-awaited debut album, Bad For Me. Arriving this Friday, April 5, the collection includes 13 tracks, including several songs he penned entirely on his own before his victory on American Idol.

Another standout is the recently released “Waylon in ‘75,” which finds the singer/songwriter tipping his hat to country outlaw Waylon Jennings. While he didn’t have a hand in writing this fan-favorite track (it was written by Jon Randall, Brett James, Parker McCollum, and Lee Thomas Miller), he instantly knew he had to record it.

“This song was a must-cut, written by some of my favorite writers in Nashville, I feel lucky to have gotten a hold of this one,” Beckham shared in an Instagram post.

Throughout the upcoming Bart Butler-produced album, Beckham tackles themes of abuse, guilt, and regret. The songs are extremely personal to him and he hopes his fans find themselves within the lyrics.

“Once I finished recording this album and had time to live with it, I felt the title Bad For Me fit perfectly. It sums up a lot of my own faults,” Beckham stated. “I like a lot of stuff that’s bad for me, even though it ends up being kryptonite but that’s all a part of being human. I am so proud of this record. I just hope there’s a song on this album that makes somebody feel something.”

Following the release of Bad for Me, Beckham will vie for the title of Breakthrough Male Video of the Year at the 2024 CMT Music Awards.

On Tour

Showing no signs of slowing down the buzzed-about artist will join superstar Luke Bryan on the 2024 Mind Of A Country Boy Tour later this year. This highly anticipated tour kicks off on April 17 and runs through September 14.
