BRELAND Fuses Country And Hip-Hop In New Single, 'Heartbreak & Alcohol'

BRELAND is no stranger to delivering cross-genre sounds.

BRELAND enters a new creative phase with his latest single, “Heartbreak & Alcohol,” successfully combining elements of country and hip-hop.

Putting His Countrified Spin On A Hip-Hop Classic

Released on February 16, “Heartbreak & Alcohol” showcases the rising star’s ability to seamlessly merge the two genres within an emotional, yet upbeat tune.

While opening up about the new song, BRELAND explained that his dynamic track was inspired by Lil Wayne’s 2013 collaboration with Drake and Future titled, “Love Me.”

“It’s been a long journey for me blending Country music with other genres, but one thing I always wanted to do is sample something from the Hip-Hop world,” BRELAND said in a press release.  “Lil Wayne, Drake and Future absolutely nailed it the first time with ‘Love Me,’ and I’m hoping people appreciate the country spin I’ve put on it with ‘Heartbreak & Alcohol’.”

The Meaning Behind “Heartbreak & Alcohol”

Throughout the song, BRELAND depicts the desire to numb the pain of heartbreak through intoxication. By narrating a raw and relatable experience, he captures the uneasiness of lost love and explores the coping mechanisms one might participate in when faced with heartache.

“I’m on that heartbreak and alcohol / I line ’em up and I drink ’em all / I lost the one, I need somethin’ strong / Just to get me through the pain that I’m feelin’ / I’m goin’ in like a wreckin’ ball / Don’t hit me up, I be missin’ calls / I’m on that heartbreak and alcohol / Baby, it’s gon’ be a hell of a weekend,” BRELAND sings in the chorus.
