BREAKING: Jay Allen And Kylie Morgan Announce Postponement Of Wedding Due To Hurricane Ian

“Obviously, we were supposed to get married this weekend, but that is the least of our concerns,” they shared.

Current The Voice contestant, Jay Allen and his fiancée, singer/songwriter, Kylie Morgan, have announced that due to the ongoing effects of Hurricane Ian, they will be holding off on their wedding plans.

The country artists first took to social media on Monday (Sept. 26) to give an update to their fans, friends and family regarding their celebration, which was originally set to take place in Fort Myers Beach, FL on Saturday, Oct. 1. At that time, they were still unsure of whether they would be able to move forward with their plans or not.

In lieu of the severe weather that has taken over the state this week, they made another video on Wednesday, (Sept. 28) stating that they made the official decision to postpone their wedding. This comes in an abundance of caution for their friends and family who were planning to make the trip and also those whose homes are planted in the midst of the storm.

“Hey y’all, Kylie and I wanted to jump on here and say first and foremost, please, if you would, send down prayers and love to Fort Myers Beach. All the people down there are like a second family to us. Obviously, we were supposed to get married this weekend, but that is the least of our concerns. We are heartbroken for everyone that’s losing their homes and their businesses right now. We can reschedule our wedding, we basically just wanted to let all of our guests know,” Allen said.

He continued to ask those watching to send good thoughts to those who are suffering from the hurricane.

“We’re going to find another date in the future, but please, if you would, just please have everyone down, especially in Fort Myers Beach, have them on your hearts, on your minds today,” he continued. “If you can do anything to help, please do that and we’ll keep y’all updates as we know more. We’re getting sent videos today and just the flooding is unreal. So please send them love if you would.”

Kylie then took a moment to share a few words of her own in the video posted to social media.

“Obviously, we’re very sad, very upset, but again, this is the least of our worries. We still have each other, all of our friends are safe and that’s all that matters. So thank you guys so much and we’ll keep you updated.”

Allen and Kylie Morgan first met during a writing session years ago and instantly clicked. He then took the next step when he popped the question in 2021 on their sixth anniversary of dating and she happily said yes. The public engagement took place in the midst of their set on the Whiskey Jam stage, a place they had both been to together many times before.

“It was such a full-circle moment,” Morgan told People. “When I first moved to Nashville at 19 years old, I would be at Whiskey Jam every single Monday because it was just always the place to go and network. It was just really cool to go back to where it all began and really close the deal.”

Although this is not the outcome they were hoping for, the couple shared that their concerns lie far beyond this event. Many residents and visitors have had to evacuate the sunshine state and plenty of damage has already been recorded.

According to CNN meteorologist Brandon Miller, “Hurricane Ian is now tied with Hurricane Charley in 2004 as the strongest storm to make landfall on the west coast of the Florida Peninsula.”

Like the lovebirds said in their post, they plan to re-schedule their wedding for a later date, once the turmoil has passed and it is safe to celebrate with their guests.
